By chance, Jake was at a school with a TSH (Teach Speak Hear), formerly Telethon Speech & Hearing, Outpost program - providing in-school support for children with hearing loss.

Jake's mum, Chrissy, said it best:

“TSH just didn't support Jake's hearing; they helped him understand it. He learned about his hearing loss, how to care for his hearing aids and, most importantly, how to advocate for himself. Instead of seeing hearing loss as something negative, he began to see it as an extra superpower!.”

When younger brother Chase reached the age of two the family noticed he wasn't talking and had very little babbling, so they knew something wasn't quite right. Unsure what to do next, they reached out to TSH once again.

TSH began supporting Chase's speech and language development, while also closely monitoring his hearing. At the start of Pre-primary, Chase was also diagnosed with hearing loss. 

Children like Chase and Jake are at the heart of what we do. Since 1967, TSH has provided life changing early intervention for children with hearing loss - giving them the opportunity to learn to listen, speak, connect and thrive.
