The Hearing House New Zealand

I’m getting LOUD to support children with hearing loss!

The Hearing House  is an Auckland-based charity that delivers a range of services and programmes to kiritaki (clients) from Cape Reinga to Taupō.

Through its passionate and dedicated teams of audiologists, specialised speech language therapists, dedicated counsellor and support staff, The Hearing House delivers a range of services and programmes to assist babies, children and adults with cochlear implants as they learn to listen and communicate, creating a strong, inclusive community of care.

As a charity, The Hearing House relies on government funding, fundraising, and donations to deliver its vital work. This includes running outreach clinics in regional areas, operating its Mobile Hearing Clinic to reach isolated communities, and offering extra support through initiatives like the Cochlear Implant Repair Fund — as well as helping it cover day-to-day running costs.

Let’s get LOUD to raise much needed awareness and funds to ensure The Hearing House can continue to provide specialised listening and spoken language therapy to its clients with cochlear implants, and ensure they have access to lifetime support.

Loud Shirt Day isn't just bright, it's BRAVE

Tuesday 30th Sep

In 2023, my beautiful son Tatum was born profoundly deaf. Like any parent, I had dreams and hopes for my child's future but with his diagnosis came a wave of uncertainty. We didn't know what the road ahead would look like or where to turn for support.

That's where Loud Shirt Day and the community behind it stepped in.

Thanks to this incredible fundraiser, my family and I were given the tools, resources, and most importantly the support we needed to help Tatum thrive. It's not just about hearing aids or cochlear implants (which we lovingly call his "special ears") it's about access to the services, people, and programs that empower kids like Tatum to engage with the world around them.

Without Loud Shirt Day and the work it funds, I truly don't know where we'd be.

Tatum is a warrior. He's cheeky, determined and full of joy. He lights up every room he enters even if it's just for a moment. His journey is just beginning, but thanks to early support, he's already charging ahead.

Supporting Loud Shirt Day is our way of giving back; to say thank you, to pay it forward, and to help ensure that other families receive the same life changing support we did.

If you're in a position to give, please consider donating. You're not just funding technology or therapy, you're giving children like Tatum the chance to hear, communicate and flourish in this wild, wonderful world.

As a mum of a child who is deaf, I can tell you this journey is filled with challenges but also moments of pure magic. The first time my child heard my voice… the first time they said “Mum”… those are memories I’ll carry forever. We love you Tatum, we're so proud of you xx
