Our son Mael was diagnosed with significant hearing loss at 3 years. Six months ago he received a cochlear implant. His progress has been incredible, and The Shepherd Centre has supported us at every step. We want more families to have the same chance.
Hearing loss is the most common condition diagnosed at birth in Australia, and 1 in 300 children have permanent hearing loss by age 5. Half receive no specialist support.
