For nearly 60 years, Western Australian charity TSH (Teach, Speak, Hear), formerly known as Telethon Speech and Hearing, has helped babies and children across WA living with hearing loss to build vital communication skills to reach their full potential.

This Loud Shirt Day, we invite you to get bright, bold, and LOUD with us! Whether you host a fundraiser, run a donation drive, or simply make a contribution, your LOUD support means the world!

Every donation makes a difference - helping to provide services that empower children with hearing loss to hear, speak, connect and thrive.

So, chuck on your loudest shirt and join us in making a lasting impact for the children who need it most!

Meet Eleanor & Max!

When Eleanor was born, she failed her newborn hearing screening in hospital - a moment filled with uncertainty for her parents. The second test a few weeks later was the same outcome, and they were referred for an Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) test, a more in-depth assessment of how the brain pathways for hearing are functioning.

For parents with no family history of hearing loss, the diagnosis was overwhelming. Questions flooded in: What devices would Eleanor need? How would she go to school? What would her development look like? The formal diagnosis helped narrow the scope, but many questions remained unanswered.

Then they found TSH (Teach, Speak, Hear), formerly Telethon Speech & Hearing, a place where babies and children with hearing loss learn to listen and speak, and where families receive the support they need to navigate this journey.

Eleanor’s mum, Lauren, said it best:

“TSH teach parents how to advocate for their children, and as they grow, they then teach the children how to advocate for themselves.”

When Max was born a few years later and also diagnosed with hearing loss, the path forward was clearer. With TSH already part of their lives, the family knew where to turn for expert guidance and compassionate care.

Children like Eleanor and Max are at the heart of what we do. For nearly 60 years, TSH has provided life changing early intervention for children with hearing loss - giving them the opportunity to flourish and thrive.

Loud Shirt Day is more than just a fun excuse to wear your brightest, boldest outfit, it’s a powerful way to support children like Max and Eleanor.

By throwing on a loud shirt on Friday 17th October, and donating to Loud Shirt Day, you’re helping to keep our early intervention hearing loss programs running. These programs ensure that children in WA with hearing loss receive the support they need from early childhood through their schooling years.

Your support helps fund, speech therapy, occupational therapy, audiology services, psychology, specialist teachers – all under one roof at TSH in Wembley.

Every loud shirt worn and every dollar raised helps shape the future for children with hearing loss - empowering families, building confidence, and creating opportunities for lifelong success.

Together, we can make a difference for children like Eleanor and Max - one loud shirt at a time.
